THE NEW WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM (WHS)
On March 1, 2020, the new World Handicap System (WHS) was introduced. The USGA and the R&A have agreed on the new World Handicap System (WHS), which will apply from 2020. The WHS will apply worldwide and is based on the average of the eight best of the twenty most recently registered handicap rounds. Stroke play and point bogey are the forms of play that apply for handicap-based rounds. However, countries can make their own extensions and approve any additional form of play. In the link below you can read what the WHS means for you.
In brief, the following applies:
- Your exact HCP will be an average of the best eight of your last 20 recorded rounds.
- max HCP is 54,0. The previous restriction on raising above 36 has been removed.
- The handicap groups disappear. All golfers, regardless of handicap, are allowed to register social rounds and rounds of nine (9) holes and up.
- You do not need to notify us in advance that you are registering your round. If you have played according to the rules of golf, you can simply register your round in My Golf.
- Approved forms of play to register a round are stroke play, point bogey and stroke golf (maximum number of strokes).
More detailed information about WHS can be found at golf.se. Read more about WHS here.
