Gender equality and inclusion

The club has begun a club development project to achieve a more gender-equal and inclusive operation. We have undergone the Swedish Golf Association's club development program Vision 50/50, which is a first step on our journey of change. We are working to achieve a better balance between women and men who play golf and want to focus on getting new groups to discover the joy of the game.

What should distinguish us in our work is Österlens Golf club's core values.

Our values are: Participatory, Respectful and Responsible.

This is the attitude we want to permeate our club life, our employees and how our guests feel they are treated. As a non-profit association, it is necessary that we have an open and inviting climate so that our members feel involved and responsible for the development of their golf club.

Core values for Österlens Golf Club

Our core values should distinguish us in our golf club. It is the attitude that we want to permeate our club life, our employees and how our guests feel that they are treated. Our core values should be a clear guideline in all development work in our business, when we make decisions, recruit employees and elected representatives, and evaluate the club's work.

Respectful

We want everyone to receive a positive response in our golf club. That everyone is allowed to play golf based on their needs and circumstances. Any form of discrimination is unacceptable. We do not behave in an offensive or condescending manner. In our club, everyone should be able to express their ideas and opinions and be taken seriously.

Participating

We want all members and employees to be given the opportunity to influence and influence the work and development of the golf club. Everyone should be welcome to participate in the club's various activities. Relevant and clear information to all concerned and responsive communication is a prerequisite for a positive sense of belonging.

Participatory means, for example:

  • Opportunity to participate in committee work and working groups
  • Opportunity to submit suggestions and ideas
  • Access to information via newsletter, website and social media.

Accountability

We want all members to take responsibility for the culture we develop at the golf club. As a member-owned club, this is a given. Ownership and democracy provide great opportunities but also clear demands for responsibility.

Taking responsibility means, for example, that:

  • Innovation and creativity should characterize both our club life and our management.
  • We care for and maintain our golf courses through active environmental work.
  • We protect the safety of our facilities
  • We take care of our properties and premises
  • We take responsibility for the club's financial development and our decisions are well anchored by the annual meeting and the board.
  • We recruit members for the board and committees who are committed to their mission and want to contribute to the club's development.

Vision 50/50

Through the Club Development Program Vision 50/50, we are working to achieve a better balance between women and men who play golf. We want to invest in getting new groups to discover the joy of the game. We want to make our golf club an attractive meeting place for exercise, sports and social community and create a culture and atmosphere in the club where everyone feels welcome and wants to be a part of.

On the external level it is about:

  • to adapt our courses to suit everyone, women and men, young and new golfers
  • to adapt membership to all groups of golfers
  • to carry out various activities that create interest in golf
  • get more women interested in golf

On the inner level, this means:

  • to strive for a structure that means increased gender equality and more women in leadership positions
  • that our core values become a guideline for creating a good mood and atmosphere
  • that we have a culture of good treatment and good service
